Lithuania continues to solidify its reputation in the global finance and banking arena as the prestigious World Finance and Banking Symposium unfolds in Vilnius on December 14-15. The event is organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Vilnius University.

The conference will commence with an opening ceremony on December 14 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Vilnius University Aula (Universiteto St. 3). Subsequently, conference events will transition to the "ARTIS Centrum Hotels" (Totorių St. 23).

Each year, the World Finance and Banking Symposium brings together top-tier university scholars, researchers from national banks, policymakers, and other leading financial market experts from around the world. It serves as an excellent platform for discussing the most relevant issues in financial science and presenting the latest research results.

This year, distinguished speakers include Professor Henri Servaes, Professor of Corporate Governance and Finance at London Business School. Additionally, Gintarė Skaistė, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania, will participate, and a special Fintech session on Friday will feature Andrius Bičeika, Deputy CEO and Board Member of "Revolut," and Marius Jurgilas, Vice President of Research and Innovation at "Super How?" and former Board Member of the Bank of Lithuania.

The symposium this year will analyze a broad spectrum of highly relevant topics, including financial technologies, sustainable finance, corporate financial reporting and ethics, banking, money and financial stability policy, etc. Special sessions are planned to focus on discussions about financial technologies, microfinance, concentrated financing, sustainable/green finance, as well as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects.

On December 6th, scholarships established by the international company "Nasdaq" were presented at Nasdaq headquarters in Vilnius to students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration's Quantitative Economics program. This year, the named scholarships were granted to three bachelor's program students in Quantitative Economics: Sofija Volungevičiūtė, Paulius Kazlauskas, and Giedrė Krotovaite.

 

Dr. Daiva Tamulevičienė, lecturer at the Department of Accounting and Audit, has been selected as the best lecturer of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in 2023.

Dr. Daiva Tamulevičienė has been working at the faculty since 1995. Currently, she teaches “Fundamentals of Accounting”, “Management of Companies Budgeting”, “Cost Accounting and Management”, and conducts seminars on how to prepare coursework and the bachelor's thesis. She supervises undergraduate coursework and theses, undergraduate professional practice, master’s theses, and supervises and mentors doctoral students. D. Tamulevičienė is the Chairperson of the Accounting and Auditing Bachelor's Degree Programme Committee.
