Turn your ideas into a startup with the VU Tech Hub Pre-accelerator

Empower your knowledge. Launch your startup.

Are you a student at Vilnius University or planning to start in September? Are you eager to harness your knowledge in a real business, meet like-minded students who share your passion, and may even become your business partners? Then join us as we guide you through the exciting process of creating a startup! The Tech Hub Pre-accelerator is a 20-week program designed to equip participants with essential entrepreneurial skills while offering hands-on experience in launching a startup.

How does it work?

The program unfolds in two phases, beginning with a Teaming Phase, where participants engage in team-building activities to help teams find missing members, while individuals have the opportunity to join existing teams.

In the Startup Building Phase, teams develop their startup ideas with the support of experienced mentors, practical workshops, and hands-on guidance. The program covers topics such as defining the problem, identifying target customers, analyzing competitors, crafting marketing and sales strategies, building an MVP, learning how to pitch to investors, and more.

Why should you participate?

  • Opportunity to meet a co-founder: The program brings together motivated individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill sets, giving you the opportunity to collaborate and assess compatibility.
  • Gain business development skills and knowledge while creating your own startup: Learn directly from industry experts in innovation, business strategy, marketing, and sales — with personalized mentorship.
  • Network with investors: Present your ideas to investors, meet business angels, and step into the startup ecosystem.
  • Access to state-of-the-art co-working space: Utilize Tech Hub meeting rooms and shared workspaces located at the faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
  • Prizes and partner offers: Students will receive perks from our partners, and the top-performing teams will be rewarded with prizes (TBA).

Who can apply?

Vilnius University students or those starting in September, who want to learn about business creation and try building a startup themselves, and who already have a startup idea and a team. During the application process, candidates will provide information about their skills and briefly explain their motivation to join the program.

Don’t have an idea or a team yet? You can still apply and join SEB Fast Track — an intensive week of team-building exercises and diverse business challenges, giving you the chance to win a spot in the Tech Hub program. More details will be announced in September.

What will the program look like?

The program lasts 20 weeks, starting on November 20 and ending in April. Workshops will take place on Thursday evenings starting at 4:30 pm and occasionally on Tuesdays at 4:30 pm.

"From Georgia to Vilnius: My Journey to Academic and Professional Growth in Lithuania"

READ MORE Presentation 3

My name is Diana Inaishvili, and I am from Georgia. I am currently studying in the Master’s programme in Accounting and Financial Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Vilnius University.

As a motivated student from a non-EU country, obtaining a European education has always been a priority for me. However, the cost of studying abroad has remained a significant challenge.

During my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to study at Vilnius University as an exchange student. I was truly impressed by the university’s academic culture, its professional and supportive lecturers, the practical approach to teaching, and the excellent opportunities for career development. From that experience, it became clear to me that I wanted to return to Vilnius University for my Master’s studies.

Vilnius University, founded in 1579, is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the region. Over the years, it has built a strong academic reputation and continues to rank among the top universities in the Baltic states. Beyond its rich history, the university is also known for offering innovative study programs and performing well in both regional and international rankings.

I chose the Accounting and Financial Management programme due to my strong interest in financial auditing, accounting, forecasting, and management. The fact that this programme was developed in close partnership with leading firms such as EY and PwC reflects its high quality and practical relevance. In addition, it offers the opportunity to pursue an ACCA qualification, which significantly enhances international competitiveness and professional value.

Beyond my academic goals, I was also willing to integrate into the Lithuanian financial sector, especially as Vilnius continues to grow as a dynamic hub for finance and fintech in the EU. To reach this goal, I decided to learn the Lithuanian language. I am proud to have reached C1 level proficiency, which has enriched both my academic and professional experiences and has enabled me to connect more meaningfully with the local community and actively participate in Lithuanian society.

One of the unique aspects of the programme that I value highly is its bilingual format in both English and Lithuanian. This has given me the opportunity to strengthen my knowledge in both languages and better prepare myself for working in multilingual and multicultural environments.

Looking back on my journey, I am really grateful for the opportunities I have had. My studies at Vilnius University have allowed me to gain valuable professional experience in both the public and private sectors. One of the most enriching experiences was working on investment projects at the Ministry of Finance of Lithuania. There, I had the chance to apply my academic knowledge to real-world challenges and gain valuable insights into the decision-making process at a national level.

Our lecturers are not only highly qualified academically — many of them are ACCA-certified. They’re passionate about what they do and always willing to share their knowledge in both practical and academic ways.

And I can’t forget to mention that my studies and living expenses are fully funded by Lithuania, which made this amazing experience financially possible for me. That support gave me the freedom to focus on learning, growing, and building my future.

Lithuania is a safe, welcoming, and modern country, and one of the most digitally advanced in Europe. Life here is convenient — everything from public services to banking is fast and digital. There are also great career opportunities, especially in finance, fintech, and business. It is a country that values education, innovation, and international cooperation, making it an ideal place for students and professionals to thrive.

In conclusion, I am sincerely thankful to Vilnius University and to Lithuania for giving me the opportunity to receive a high-quality education in an environment that values knowledge, initiative, and international experience. This journey continues to shape not only my academic growth but also my professional aspirations and personal values.

Esu nuoširdžiai dėkinga Lietuvai už galimybę pilnu finansavimu įgyti kokybišką išsilavinimą bei kurti savo profesinę karjerą šalyje, kuri vertina žinias, iniciatyvumą ir tarptautinę patirtį.

Consumer Decision Making Lab (CDM LAB)

The Consumer Decision Making Lab (CDM LAB) is a modern consumer decision making research laboratory at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Vilnius University. The main function of this laboratory is to deepen the understanding of consumer behaviour by conducting research using modern technologies.

The laboratory has a total of 12 computerised workstations, three of which are equipped with state-of-the-art Noldus Hub technology. This technology performs multiple functions in a single study:

Measures the respondent's heart rate (ECG) and heart rate variability (HRV);
Captures the skin's conductivity, i.e. the skin's ability to conduct electrical current, which varies according to the activity of the sweat glands;
Eye-tracking analysis - the system captures the respondent's attention to the test material displayed on the screen;
Emotion analysis - the application captures the respondent's emotions towards the on-screen material based on facial muscle movements.
All this allows researchers to compile large datasets, which, once analysed, can be used to produce scientific papers, etc.

Other computerised workstations conduct routine surveys to determine users' habits, attitudes and motives.

The laboratory also has a small minimarket. It is equipped to simulate the real shopping process and smart cameras help researchers analyse consumers' shopping habits.

The laboratory gives University students the opportunity to see and participate in consumer behaviour research at close quarters and to undertake professional practice. In the year since its inception, over 750 unique respondents have taken part in the research conducted here, and over 20 studies have been conducted.
