On June 12, Mantas Bureika successfully defended his dissertation at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Vilnius University. His dissertation, titled “Institutional and Economic Development in a Limited Access Order of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (1245–1795)”, was defended for the degree of Doctor of Economics.
The dissertation was prepared at Vilnius University between 2021 and 2026. It examines institutional and economic development in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania through the perspectives of historical economics and institutional analysis.
The academic supervisor was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Giedrė Dzemydaitė. The academic consultants were Prof. Dr. Éric Brousseau and Prof. Dr. Paul Hünermund.
The Dissertation Defence Board was chaired by Prof. Dr. Andrius Kažukauskas. The members of the Board were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Martina Dal Molin, Prof. Habil. Dr. Zenonas Norkus, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marcin Wroński, and Prof. Dr. Aras Zirgulis.
